A Letter from Our Founder

Helen Obuya's Journey of Faith, Compassion, and Service

Dear Friend,

I was born and raised in Kenya, where I witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of communities without access to basic healthcare, clean water, or adequate nutrition. As a child, I saw neighbors and loved ones suffer from preventable illnesses simply because medical care was out of reach. These experiences planted seeds in my heart that would later grow into a calling I couldn't ignore.

When I came to the United States and became a registered nurse, I was amazed by the abundance I encountered in American healthcare facilities. There were medical supplies, equipment, and medicines in such surplus that perfectly functional items were often discarded or stored indefinitely. Meanwhile, the communities I grew up with in Kenya—and countless others across Africa—were desperate for these same resources.

For over 20 years, I've worked in U.S. healthcare, caring for patients with dedication and gratitude for the opportunity to serve. But throughout those years, my heart has never forgotten the faces of those back home—the mothers who walk miles to find clean water, the children who go to bed hungry, the sick who have no access to the medicines that could save them.

The moment that changed everything came during a conversation with a colleague about surplus medical equipment our hospital was planning to discard. I thought about the clinics in Kenya that had no gloves, no bandages, no basic diagnostic tools. I thought about the gap—this enormous, heartbreaking gap—between abundance and need. And I realized that I could be a bridge.

In 2021, with faith as my foundation and compassion as my guide, I founded Peace of Heart for All Nations. The name comes from my deep belief that true peace of heart comes from serving your neighbor—from extending a hand across oceans, cultures, and circumstances to say, "You are seen. You matter. We are in this together."

My faith motivates everything I do, but this mission is for everyone who believes in human dignity, compassion, and the power of partnership. We welcome people of all backgrounds who share our vision: that no community should be left behind, that every person deserves access to healthcare, clean water, and opportunity.

Since our founding, we've been working tirelessly to bridge the gap I saw so clearly that day. We collect surplus medical supplies and deliver them to verified clinics in underserved African communities. We support clean water projects, hunger relief programs, and emergency disaster response. We sponsor children who need food, education, and healthcare. And we do it all through sustainable partnerships built on trust, transparency, and respect.

But I cannot do this alone. This mission requires partners—people like you who see the same gap, feel the same calling, and want to make a tangible difference. Whether you're a medical professional, a corporate partner, an individual donor, or someone who simply cares, there is a place for you in this work.

Every donation, no matter the size, saves lives. Every partnership creates opportunity. Every act of service brings us closer to a world where vulnerable communities experience true peace of heart—where children have food, the sick receive care, and families have hope for tomorrow.

I invite you to join us. Together, we can turn surplus into survival, compassion into action, and hope into reality. Together, we can restore dignity to communities that have been forgotten for far too long.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our mission. I pray that this message finds your heart open and ready to be part of something beautiful.

With hope and gratitude,

Helen Obuya
